The National Endowment for the Arts announced today that The Jazz Bakery Performance Space will receive its fourth NEA Art Works Grant. Artists invited to perform in this series include: Kamasi Washington, Les McCann, Billy Childs, Anthony Wilson, Nels Cline and Alex Cline. Additional support for this program comes from the Herb Alpert Foundation.

“The Jazz Bakery is honored to receive this prestigious NEA grant, which will allow us to continue our highly acclaimed Concerts and Conversations series,” said Jazz Bakery founder and Artistic Director Ruth Price. “This program allows us to reach out to underserved youth who are interested in the arts, by connecting them with successful artists and role models from their own communities.”

“The arts reflect the vision, energy, and talent of America’s artists and arts organizations,” said NEA Chairman Jane Chu. “The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support organizations such as The Jazz Bakery, in serving their communities by providing excellent and accessible arts experiences.”

Last year’s series included performances and youth outreach events by vocalist Dwight Trible. flutist Hubert Laws, percussionist Poncho Sanchez, the John Clayton Trio with vocalist Ernie Andrews, and pianist Alan Pasqua's trio.
