Jazz at The Baird presents jazz vocalist Antoinette Montague Quartet on Saturday, February, 28 at 8:00pm. The first of a four concert series held the last Saturday of each month, this event brings jazz greats up-close and personal

Montagues first CD Pretty Blues combines passion and sophistication, making every song sound fresh, infectious and topical. Released in 2006, it has received high praise from both musicians and critics alike. A review by The Portland Observer states, Her ability to both belt the blues and swing with a jazz band is in full evidencewith a style that can be powerful one moment and soft-and delicate the next, her lusty and soulful voice reaches right into the heart of the listener.

Montague has performed at legendary clubs such as Lincoln Centers Dizzys Club Coca Cola, the Zebra Room in Harlems famous Lenox Lounge, the Blue Note, Blue Smoke ::Jazz Standard. She has performed with numerous renowned artists that include Winard Harper, Wycliffe Gordon, Frank Wess and Bill Easley. The quartet includes Houston Person, saxophone; Tommy James, piano, Hassan Shakur, bass, and Vince Ector, drums.

Candlelit tables, complimentary coffee and cake, and the ability to casually meet and greet the artists lend itself to an intimate atmosphere that is unique to this series. The Baird is located on 5 Mead Street, South Orange, NJ. The Jazz at The Baird Concert Series is held the last Saturday a month, January through May. Tickets $15 advance; $20 at door.
