This interesting event, that will be hosted in the charming setting of the Sforza residence in Rocca Brivio, is a rare opportunity offered to jazz lovers and people into music to completely plunge into the world of creating improvised music.

The programme includes 4 concert evenings and a two-day “Workshop" to give participants the opportunity to interact with some of the most popular “downtown" New York musicians.

The topics related to musical improvisation, heard at concerts and whose theoretical and practical aspects are analysed during the workshop, will be the main focus of the evening performances in May. Compared to other similar activities focusing the investigation of jazz-related subjects, the peculiarity of this event is that it allows to get to the core of the creative processes of a musical project that naturally emerges as a “work in progress" and is subject to unpredictable insertions and variations deeply related to the moods, and above all, to the cultural background and musical visions of those taking part in the process.

It is not by chance that both musicians and “project" typologies have been carefully selected according to the “work in progress" concept; the event features painting conduction, applied to “Birth of the Cool", Miles Davis jazz milestone, on the opening evening (14-piece band conducted by Biagio Coppa, featuring special guest Claudio Fasoli), the Brooklyn Project (Arrigo Cappelletti with Haemi Haemmerli and Ted Renold), bridging from European lyrical sounds to New York avant-garde, the Broken Arm Trio of cellist Erik Friedlander (the true brave choice of the whole event, with Trevor Dunn and Mike Sarin) and the Anastomosi Project (with Ralph Alessi, Chris Lightcap, Matt Mitchell, Mark Ferber and Biagio Coppa) that confirms the belief that the experience of jazz musicians mixing styles and genres allows even opposite languages to coexist.

This event lays the basis for Rocca Brivio to come as a centre of cultural promotion and a point of reference for the organization of initiatives and events aiming at encouraging the growth of jazz music and providing a meeting point where different and new musical realities can come together.
