In celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month, the Jazz Arts Group of Columbus (JAG) welcomes the piano stylings of Joe Hunter to the Lincoln Theatre ballroom on April 9 for the season finale of PBJ & Jazz presented by Bob Evans Farms.

Joe Hunter is one of Cleveland's most popular and busiest jazz pianists. He is a favorite at many Tri-C JazzFest events and is the co-host with Bill Rudman of the very popular “The Song is You" series. He has taught with the Tri-C Jazz Studies Program for several years and is a popular performer throughout the greater Cleveland area including such nightspots as Nighttown and the Inn at Turner's Mill. Joe is also a featured player with Ernie Krivda's Fat Tuesday Big Band. He has also performed with many national artists including Conti Condoli, David “Fathead" Newman, Tito Puente, Eddie Henderson, and Scott Hamilton.

PBJ & Jazz concerts are 1-hour long interactive concerts designed to introduce jazz and American music to young children and their families. Featuring some of Columbus' finest musicians and ensembles, PBJ & Jazz concerts are hosted by former Columbus Music Hall owner and retired music educator Rebecca Ogden and are a great introduction to live music for the youngest audience member.

“It has been so much fun over the years to work with great musicians playing real live jazz for kids and their families," states Ogden. “Every concert is a treat. I am delighted that PBJ & Jazz has a life after the Columbus Music Hall in its new home at the Lincoln!"

PBJ & Jazz concerts are $5 per person at the door with a family maximum of $20. Children receive a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, juice and a cookie (provided by Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland). The 2010-11 concerts will be held in the ballroom in the Lincoln Theatre complex, 769 E. Long Street, Columbus, OH 43203. All concerts begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. Call 614-294-5200 or visit www.jazzartsgroup.org for more information.

The PBJ & Jazz series is presented by Bob Evans Farms with ongoing support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Ohio Arts Council, the Greater Columbus Arts Council, and the Columbus Foundation. Exclusive media support is provided by WCBE 90.5 FM.
