Creative Music is alive and well at Tonic NYC, this Friday night, December 1st, as four genre-busting" musicians grace the stage.

Legendary G Calvin Weston and Billy Martin of Medeski Martin & Wood on drums and percussion, Weston & Martin have shared a history as a partnership in Lounge Lizards which has given rise to numerous collaborations over the years. Developing intense rhythmic complexities. Jamaaladeen Tacuma only adds fuel to the fire with his heavy hitting free funk bass style. Tacuma also shares a long history with Weston starting in their formative years when they shared the stage with Ornette Coleman; over the years they have worked with countless great musicians worldwide becoming one of Philly's most sought-after rhythm sections. Add to the mix Anthony Coleman--he is a such a dictionary of style and genre that he has been an invaluable sideman in the Downtown chronology for more than 25 years. His ability to adapt, reference and mimic gave breadth to the wide-eyed, nascent scene he shares with Martin, Weston & Tacuma. This rare and special performance promises to bring the house down.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
