Vocalist/songwriter showcases material from brand new CD at December show

Vocalist and songwriter JACQUI NAYLOR will perform at The Blue Note on Tuesday, December 16, 2008.

At this concert, Naylor and her band will play tunes from her recently-released seventh recording, You Don't Know Jacq. Naylor will sing songs from this new CD as well as those most requested by fans via her web site. Visit jacquinaylor.com to listen to songs and write to the artist. You Don’t Know Jacq (November 4/Ruby Star – Ryko WEA) features new arrangements of select songs from Jacqui’s previous albums, as well as completely new material including the first single “Celebrate Early and Often.”

“Jacqui Naylor can serve up classic covers with the best of them, deliver top-drawer originals and inspire with the musical marriage of jazz and rock tunes she calls ‘acoustic smashing.’” JazzTimes

Naylor will also treat the audience to songs from her 2007 holiday CD, Smashed for the Holidays, which earned the vocalist and songwriter glowing critical acclaim in the United States and abroad. The CD featured a seamless combination of classic rock and holiday classics. Tying everything together was Naylor's trademark “acoustic smashing," where she sings a holiday standard while the band plays a well-known rock tune. Picture “Santa Claus is Coming to Town" over the groove of Lynyrd Skynyrd's “Sweet Home Alabama." The record was called “the most adventurous Christmas album of 2007" by All Music Guide, and Jonathan Takiff of the Philadelphia Daily News marveled that “Jacqui Naylor found a way to make even the most familiar Christmas standard sound fresh." The record was rated the number one holiday release by Jazziz and in the top 10 from USA Today, The Washington Post and The Boston Globe.
