JACQUI NAYLOR ANNOUNCES UPCOMING TOUR DATES

Vocalist/songwriter showcases trademark “acoustic smashing" technique at select summer performances

Vocalist and songwriter JACQUI NAYLOR has announced select tour appearances for August and September 2008; dates, venues, and cities are listed below. This run includes a special concert on Naylor's birthday at Yoshi's in her hometown of San Francisco.

At these shows, the artist will sing the music from her acclaimed album, The Color Five, as well as the most requested songs from her prior recordings. Sure to be included will be “Celebrate Early and Often," the highly-requested and celebrated original song from Smashed For The Holidays. Audiences can also expect a sneak peek at songs from her upcoming release, You Don't Know JACQ. Fans are always invited to write in with requests for the show directly to Naylor's website at www.jacquinaylor.com

Jacqui Naylor's long-awaited holiday CD, Smashed for the Holidays, earned the vocalist and songwriter growing critical acclaim in the United States and abroad. The CD featured a seamless combination of classic rock and holiday classics. Tying everything together was Naylor's trademark “acoustic smashing," where she sings a holiday standard while the band plays a well-known rock tune. Picture “Santa Claus is Coming to Town" over the groove of Lynyrd Skynyrd's “Sweet Home Alabama." The record was called “the most adventurous Christmas album of 2007" by All Music Guide, and Jonathan Takiff of the Philadelphia Daily News marveled that “Jacqui Naylor found a way to make even the most familiar Christmas standard sound fresh." The record was rated the number one holiday release by Jazziz and in the top 10 from USA Today, The Washington Post and The Boston Globe.

Naylor's previous release, The Color Five, incorporated many different permutations of the number “5," including five of Naylor's “acoustic smashes.". For example, Naylor sang the U2 favorite “I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" over the music of Miles Davis' “All Blues" and sang Rod Stewart's “Hot Legs" over fellow Buddhist Herbie Hancock's “Cantaloupe Island."

Naylor and her band have just finished recording her seventh project, You Don't Know JACQ, due out later this year on Ruby Star Records/Ryko.
