Keely Smith In Concert
Musical Director Dennis Michaels

Jack Kleinsinger and Highlights In Jazz are pleased to present the return engagement of Keely Smith to close the Spring season Thursday, May 10, 2007 @ 8pm at Tribeca Performing Arts Center. The incomparable Tony Bennett has gone on record naming Keely Smith “one of the greatest jazz-pop singers of all time." Merv Griffin says it best--"Keely is awesome!" Nat Hentoff writing in the Wall Street Journal called Kelly The most joyously authentic jazz singer on the scene...

Writing in Variety about Kelly Smiths' previous Highlights appearance Robert L. Daniels had this to say:

Keely Smith, responding gratefully to the overwhelming reaction of a capacity audience, caught producer Jack Kleinsinger off guard when she queried why she wasn't doing a second night. The opening concert of the 33rd annual Highlights in Jazz concert series found the lady clearly revved up and cookin' big time with a repertoire that was so fond and familiar that patrons could not resist singing along and only just stopped short of dancing in the aisles.

Musical director for the show is Dennis Michaels. Featured musicians include, Earl Gardner-trumpet, Jerry Vivino-saxophones, Chip Jackson- bass, Joe Cocuzzo-drums.

A chance to see this great performer In Concert is not to be missed!

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
