It’s the last 24 hours of Le QuecumBar’s crowdfunding campaign... your support is still needed for great, personalised, rewards!
A month ago, Le QuecumBar, the home and temple of Gypsy swing, London, started a crowdfunding campaign in response to rising rents. Like many jazz clubs and live music venues, Le Que has been subjected to rising rental and lease costs but fought back to remain in situ.

To date, their crowdfunding campaign has raised £17,000 of the required £35,000. The rules of Kickstarter, the crowdfunding website, state that all funds must be raised for pledges to be received. Here’s the link.

Steve Tennison, manager at Le Quecumbar said, ‘Our campaign has reached all corners of the globe. We’ve received over 170 pledges to date that take us over the half way mark but we have just 24 hours to go to raise the full amount. This crowdfunding project has been an emotional journey and our efforts are paying off – we have received pledges from all over the world from those who love live music and in particular, Gypsy jazz. Jazz lovers have been extremely generous and have pledged for some great rewards ranging from complimentary tickets and cocktails right through to having personal songs written for them by Spanish guitar legend, Biel Ballester’. Steve added ‘we’ve reaffirmed that the crowd funding isn’t a short term fix in terms of paying our rent. We need to refocus and concentrate on projects that ensure our medium and longer sustainability which if we succeed; we’ll be able to do’. Le Que held a Kickstarter party last week which contributed a further £1k to their campaign whereby five top London swing bands gave their time for free to perform to a packed a venue. On September 23rd, Le Que will hold a public auction with dinner and live Hot Club jazz to auction some of it’s iconic objet d’art—see website for details.
