Ingrid Laubrock is launching a regular monthly club night in a loft space in Stoke Newington, north London.

Titled Soup at The Others, the gig will take place on the last Thursday of every month, and kicks off this coming Thursday 23 February, with featured artists including Partisans and Laubrock herself.

Laubrock will open the night in one of her lyrical and much loved Brazilian settings. The line-up will be Ife Tolentino (guitar and voice), Laubrock (voice, soprano and tenor saxophones), and Ben Davis (cello). The trio will perform songs by Chico Buarque, Tom Jobim, Guinga and other Brazilian greats.

Partisans (Phil Robson, guitars; Julian Siegel, saxophones and clarinets; Thaddeus Kelly, bass; Gene Calderazzo, drums) recently released the acclaimed CD Max on the Babel label. Their headlong music is likely to rearrange the furniture.

Soup at The Others is at Top Floor, 6 - 8 Manor Road, London N16 (above the snooker hall). Doors open 7.30pm and the live music starts at 8.30pm. Entrance is just five pounds, amazing value for what promises to be a night of excellent vibes and prime music.

N.B. No actual soup will be served (but your head will be fed).
