Harvie S Band to Appear at Marie's Jazz Bar on Thursday June 23 and June 30

The Harvie S Band in conjunction with the JVC Festival and Willow Entertainment presents an evening of Jazz on the Latin Side at Marie's Jazz Bar, 51 West 46th Street between 5th and 6th avenues on Thursday, June 23rd and June 30th, sets at 9:15 and 11:00 pm.

Musicians: Harvie S, bass; Daniel Kelly, piano; Scott Robert Avidon, saxophone; and William Bausch drums. Admission $5.00 plus drink minimum. Reservations are not required.

Exploring a bold new music, the high energy Harvie S Band combines the harrmonic sophistication of jazz with the rhythmic intensity of Latin music. The band will perform compositions from the highly acclaimed Texas Rumba CD (Zoho Music 2004) along with new material from their upcoming CD Funky Cha (Zoho Music 2006). This dynamic and innovative quartet has riveted audiences all over the world, including venues JVC Jazz Festival, Philadelphia Museum Jazz Festival, Syracuse Jazz Festival, Jazz Forum Arts Festival, Lake George Jazz Festival, Birdland, The Blue Note, Sweet Rhythm, Cape Cod Jazz Festival, The Stamford Arts Center and The Tbilisi Jazz Festival.

Harvie S is an exceptional bassist, composer, bandleader who has performed with Ray Barretto, Kenny Barron, Chet Baker, Paquito D'Rivera, Frank Foster, Stan Getz, Dexter Gordon, Jim Hall, James Moody, Art Farmer, Chico O'Farrill, Houston Person, Pucho and the Latin Soul Brothers, Mike Stern and Dr. Billy Taylor. He has recorded with James Brown, Michael Brecker, Chick Corea, Arturo O'Farrill, Pucho and the Latin Soul Brothers, Mike Stern, John Scoffield, Ray Vega and Grover Washington. For fourteen years he co-led a duo project with Sheila Jordan that set the standard in bass and voice performance. Harvie S is the bass instructor at the Manhattan School of Music.
