Recorded between 1961 and 1971 this extraordinary set of music portrays the music of Black Americans from the early 17th century through the music that heralded the great cultural explosion at the dawn of the 20th century. There are songs featured by a number of artists such as Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Joe Williams, and Harry Belafonte himself.
There's amazing footage from Belafonte's Civil Rights Activist days and a great interview with the man at J&R Music in New York City. It airs exclusively on BET Jazz, The Jazz Channel every Sunday night at 11 PM as a Black History Month special.
