Fundashon Bon Intenshon is very honored and proud to announce the presence of singer/actor Harry Belafonte at the fourth edition of Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival that will be held on August 30 and 31, 2013.

Belafonte will deliver a speech entitled: “The Confirmation of Commitment for Peace, Sustainability and Brotherhood for All through Music”.

American singer/songwriter, actor and social activist Harold George “Harry” Belafonte (1927), also known as the “King of Calypso” for popularising the Caribbean music style with an international audience in the 1950s, is perhaps best known to the general public for singing The Banana Boat Song.

Throughout his career in the music and theater world, Belafonte has always been an advocate for civil rights and humanitarian causes. In the 1950s, he supported the American Civil Rights Movement and was a confidante of Dr Martin Luther King. In 1985, he helped organize the Grammy Award winning We Are The World to help raise funds for Africa. In 1987, Belafonte was appointed as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador which role he fulfils with great dedication to this day.
