The Hank Johnson Trio has scheduled a series of rehearsals, to do some woodshedding before recording some new and original music written by jazz composer Stuart H. Tresser. Work already has begun on a new CD album which is expected to eclipse and go well beyond most jazz pianists curently on the scene. Carmichael's is located at 117-08 Guy R Brewer Boulevard, in Jamaica, Queens New York. The Hank Johnson Trio consists of: Hank Johnson on piano, Gary Smith, on drums, and “Cool Mike" Fitzbenjamin on bass. The trio has been together now for twenty years or so- and is one of the underrated and less known trios out there. The trio is also independent, unsigned, and part of a record label created by Stuart H. Tresser known as “Jazzbone Records". The rehearsal dates for the trio for April are on: Saturdays; 4/10/04,4/17/04 and 4/24/04 at 1:30 P.M. downstairs at Carmichael's which is a well known meeting place in the heart of Jamaica, Queens. The actual album will be recorded in Canada, and will be sold on the internet at the Jazzbone Records website; http://www.jazzbonerecords.com There will be some vocal cuts and possible addition of a horn or two making it an very exciting CD, which will be in great demand by jazz lovers all over the world. Check back on the website for any updates, additions, as they occur. -30-

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
