CHICAGO, Ill. – The Galaxie announces a brand new series of bi-monthly jam sessions open to musicians and dancers of all types and levels, as well as fans of vintage films.

The first three sessions will take place Friday, December 26, Thursday, January 8, and Thursday, January 22. Each session will have a host musician helping to organize and conduct the music portion of the event. Host musicians include Alfonso Pontecelli, of Swing Gitan, Dave Ramey of Deep Chicago Rhythm Owls, and Marc Edelstein of Rhythm Future. The event begins at 9pm. In-house instruments include piano and basic drum kit.

Each session will feature: -Dancing and practice time for all forms, including social dancing and solo forms. -A featured film themed on early jazz artists in music and dance.

Because The Galaxie is an all ages venue, this is also a great opportunity for parents to bring along the kids for a night of unique music making and dancing. This allows young people to experience music, dancing and classic films from the past about which they likely have very little opportunity to learn and appreciate.

For more information, please visit the Galaxie web site, galaxiechicago.com, e-mail [email protected], or call the Galaxie at 773-267-6010.

The Galaxie’s goal includes creating opportunities for working artists to have a creative, legal and safe environment to work, meet with other artists, gain inspiration and continue to create a strong and vital community in the Chicago art scene.
