COME GROOVE ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT THE FORD AMPHITHEATER WITH FRIENDS, FOLKS, FOOD AND FAMILY

Los Angeles, CA July, 2005: Derrick Pipkins' PIP's Entertainment heats up a cool afternoon on October 9th with the 4th Annual Groovin on a Sunday Afternoon at the beautiful Ford Amphitheater nestled right in Hollywood, CA.

This event will bring together friends and the entire family for a day of spoken word, comedy and the universal language of music. Look forward to grooves that will make the whole family move. This afternoon of live entertainment will be hosted by comedian A.J. Jamal who also holds down filmmaking duties in the world animation for TV (BET Comic View's “The Toonies) and the web (“Pookie Poo and “Siskel & Ripple”). He has also completed a live action feature, “The Cheapest Movie Ever Made”.

Getting the audience up and on their feet will be the soulful grooves of saxophonist Jimmy Reid, a young Chicago-born mainstay on the smooth Jazz scene. Reid is known to mix it up with everybody from Rick Braun to Jon B. The women of DIVA and the LA based funk soul band known simply as Clueless will also hit the stage.

Sponsors for this event include Granny's House Restaurant, a jewel located in the Crenshaw District and www.jazzone.net. Transportation will be provided by Norman Lewis Limousine.

General Admission tickets range from $25-$20 and VIP Reserved tickets range from $35 -$28. Tickets available through ticket master and Inglewood Tickets.

The Ford Amphitheatre is located at 2580 Cahuenga Blvd. East, Hollywood, CA 90068, just off the 101 Hollywood Freeway across from the Hollywood Bowl and south of Universal Studios.

The grounds open at 2:00pm for show-time for picnicking. The Ford offers a number of dining options: a variety of food and beverages is available on site and box dinners for evening events may be ordered in advance. Patrons are welcome to bring their own food and drink. The Ford is disabled accessible. Portable wireless listening devices are available upon request.

On-site, stacked parking costs $5 per vehicle for evening shows and $1 per vehicle for morning family shows. For evening shows only, FREE non-stacked parking serviced by a FREE shuttle to the Ford is available at the Universal City Metro Station lot at Lankershim Blvd. and Campo de Cahuenga. The shuttle, which cycles every 15-20 minutes, stops in the “kiss and ride" area.

This event is part of the Ford Amphitheatre 2005 Season, a multi-disciplinary arts series produced by the Los Angeles County Arts Commission in cooperation with Los Angeles County-based arts organizations.
