The Great Basin Jazz Camp has announced the signing of famed trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos as Co-Artist in Residence for the 2008 Camp, being held from July 14th through July 18th, 2008. The other Co-Artist is returning guitarist Bruce Forman.

In addition, the 2008 Jazz Camp will relocate to the campus of Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho, just east of Boise, Idaho. The University will also serve as Co-Sponsor of the 2nd Annual Great Basin Jazz Camp.

Gilbert Castellanos is probably best known as a featured trumpeter with the renowned and highly acclaimed Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, which is currently on tour in Europe. The San Diego-based trumpeter will give private instruction to ALL trumpet students at Camp, as well as conduct trumpet sectionals as part of the Camp's Concert Big Band, which will give a performance following Camp on July 18, 2008 in the beautiful 16-hundred seat Swayne Auditorium on campus. The Camp has quality, certified instructors for all instruments, and Jazz Vocal, Solo Voice and Ensemble Voice instruction as well. Please visit our website for more information.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
