Some of you might be in a sentimental mood this week, as popular jazz tunes will be reunited with some of the best real ales for the 21st annual Reading Real Ale and Jazz Festival.

But unlike the song, it won't be Stella by Starlight as all the jars are real ale from small breweries.

A huge marquee will be erected in Christchurch Meadow - just a few minutes walk from Reading's train station - to accommodate the live music and selection of terrific ales (and wines, ciders and more) for the festival, which starts on Thursday, July 17 and runs until Saturday, July 19.

Each evening of the festival features two live jazz bands who play two sets, the first beginning at 7.15pm.

To mark the 21st anniversary of the festival, organisers have booked favourite performers from years past as well as a few newcomers to enable visitors to enjoy a diversity of jazz styles.

Over the years the festival has built a fine reputation for the quality and range of real ale - and this year promises to be no exception.

There will be more than 30 brews available which will include regular favourites like Hop Back's Summer Lightning, Rebellion's Blonde and St Austell's Tribute, as well as ales from breweries located in more far-flung parts of the country like Adnams (Southwold, Suffolk), Batemans (Skegness, Lincolnshire), Elgoods (Wisbech, Cambridgeshire), Harviestoun (Alva, Scotland), Jennings (Cockermouth, Cumbria), Ramsbury (Marlborough, Wilts) and Timothy Taylor (Keighley, West Yorkshire) for the more adventurous to try.
