Since Hurricane Katrina, the Foundation has donated over one million dollars worth of instruments to New Orleans Area schools as well as programs that benefit musicians of all ages.

October 25, 2007 - Rock and Roll pioneer and New Orleans music legend Antoine “Fats" Domino is making his first trip to New York City in over 20 years to celebrate the release of Goin' Home: A Tribute To Fats Domino (Vanguard Records) compilation CD. An all-star cast of musicians will assemble on Thursday, November 8th at the Pink Elephant for a concert honoring his life and benefiting the Tipitina's Foundation, a New Orleans based non-profit that Mr. Domino works closely with to preserve the musical cultures of New Orleans. Domino, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame who has sold over 65 million records, will be on hand along with New Orleans' finest performers, including members of the Neville Brothers and the Meters, to perform songs from Goin' Home. This tribute recording includes new versions of Fats' songs by Paul McCartney, B.B. King, Neil Young, Joss Stone, Lenny Kravitz, Elton John, Tom Petty and Norah Jones, among others.

Hurricane Katrina's path of destruction did not avoid Fats, as he was dramatically rescued by boat from the top floor of his home. Since then, he has become one of the most involved contributors to the rebuilding of the city, and has chosen the Tipitina's Foundation as his vehicle to help. Through its programs geared at uplifting the city's unique musical cultures, the foundation has supported both professional musicians and students.
