George Kahn at the Jazz Bakery on March 4th: Quartet Features Guitarist Pat Kelley

West Coast Jazz Pianist, George Kahn, will be appearing at The Jazz Bakery on Wednesday evening, March 4th with sets at 8:00 PM and 9:30 PM. Joining him on stage will be MB Gordy (drums), Karl Vincent (bass) and Pat Kelley (guitar).



Pat Kelley has recorded eight CD's as a leader, toured in more than thirty countries as a performer, worked as a Los Angeles studio guitarist on hundreds of sessions for records, television, commercials, and motion pictures, and composed more than one hundred songs that have been commercially recorded. He holds a full time teaching position in the Studio/Jazz Guitar Department at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music in Los Angeles.



George Kahn has been a major force in the Los Angeles jazz community since the late 1990s. He recently released his sixth CD, Cover Up! Made available through his Playing Records label, Cover Up! features Kahn's trio plus occasional guests including Pat Kelley. The brilliant lineup of players interprets four catchy originals as well as some surprising , recognizable rock tunes that are transformed into jazz.



In August 2008 George won the prestigious Chuck Niles Bebop Award at the Temecula Valley International Jazz Festival. Four new songs have been recorded as a result of this prize. The Quartet will perform material from several of Georges’ six CD’s as well as these brand new compositions.
