Le Steak at Fillmore East announces that French Blues Great Nina Van Horn will be performing on Thursday August 16th, 2007. Tickets are $65 per person (plus tax & gratuity) which includes a five course meal. The event starts at 7:00 PM with opening act Claudia DiNatale and James Walls; dinner is served at 7:30 PM; Nina Van Horn performs at 9:00 PM. About Nina Van Horn
Nina Van Horn's first love was classical dance then she explored classical music, discovering she can work out her voice she became “soprano colorature". During many years of vocal training she developed a powerful vocal technique and a great corporal expression on stage. Born in France and raised mostly in Texas, Nina went on tour across the USA with her ballet Company and finally settled in Texas where she met the Desert Sunrise band. As a country singer she appeared in Charity concerts like “Farm Aid" along with Neil Young and Willie Nelson.
While touring in New Orleans she finds a new passion; the BLUES...She met Dan Akroyd, also great Blues lover, and ends up opening for Bette MIDLER, Chuck BERRY or Eric BURDON.
Nina learns a lot with from those “monsters" of stage and, feeling ready, goes back to France and quickly creates her own band the Midnight Wolf Band. With an energy alike the Silver Bullet Band , she is often compared as the “Feminine Bob SEGER" and she is welcome in the bests Jazz and Blues Festivals in Europe :
* Germany welcomes her in Festivals like Gronau, Dillenburg, Saarbrucken, Hannover...
* Spain at the Blues Festival of Cerdanyola , Santiago of Compostelle and Cordoba where she is called “Torera"
* Norway and Finland at the Hell Blues Festival, Elojazz and Vads Festival
* France at the Country Festival of Mirande, the Bagnol's Blues where she performs as a headliner between Simple Mind and Maceo Parker. The next day, the whole press sees her as the true revelation of the Festival !", since then, she has performed in Avignon, Jazz in Chtellerault, Leognan, Cahors...with the same audience enthusiasm. - Poland and Hungary discover Nina this year and she got a standing ovation in the difficult Blue Note Club in Poznan after a 3 hours show!
Her new collaboration with Neal Black and Lucky Peterson in her new album From Huntsville to Jordan prove that Nina is not tired to travel in the World of Blues and Texas Rock. In this more mature CD Nina express herself on subjects such as Executions in Huntsville, mistreatment of our planet and wars...
About Claudia DiNatale and James Walls
Claudia DiNatale is a Windsor native and professional vocalist and musician. She released her first full length CD, “The Little Things", in August of 2005 in Canada. She has performed on more than 15 TV and Radio programs through out Canada including “Canada AM." She performs Jazz, Blues and variety music every weekend at Le Steak at Fillmore East.
James Walls is a Windsor native. After spending many years as a School Principal he now devotes himself to music. He plays piano and bass. You can see him play every weekend at Le Steak at Fillmore East with Claudia DiNatale.
