It's an extended play version of Freedom Jazz Dance this week as I mark my last FM broadcast of 2010! Tune in to the sound of freedom in the groove this Sunday from 5-9 PM. This week I'll be spinning choice selections from vocalist Giacomo Gates, the Metta Quintet, drummer Brian Jones, saxophonist Chris Byars and much mo.' I'll be featuring some longer format jazz that I don't normally have the time for on my show, as well as my usual panoply of unsung jazz heroes and dusty grooves you can't find nowhere but here. Feel free to call the studio at 804-289-UR90 or IM me at WDCE request during a special last Records From Aunt Ruth and my officially licensed and trademarked Two-Of-A-Kind segment.

Missed the last show? Well, it's proof positive that I have the best playlists in the nation, bar none. Seriously, you'll never find half of the artists I play on any other jazz stations in the world. That's because I love the music and the truth is, I just plain try harder. So visit the website and double click on the Radio blog file and listen to Freedom Jazz Dance in the comfort of your cubicle. Recent artists featured include Benjamin Herman, Yaron Elyashiv, Mostly Other People Do The Killing. Feel free to blog away and talk jazz. I'd love to hear from you!

FJD Online

This fall, I'm taking a hiatus from the FM airwaves at WDCE and focusing my jazz efforts online. To that end, I will be growing the FJD website freedomjazzdance.net into a dynamic worldwide jazz resource with reviews written by yours truly, special jazz features, rare tracks, new recordings, informative jazz links and updates on the latest, coolest events. I'll also be podcasting exclusive online-only shows to quench your thirst for rare jazz records and the latest under-the-radar improvisers!

Dig!
