On Saturday June 21st, Sound of Market/Jazsound will be having their monthly free jazz lecture presented by Dr. Harrison Ridley of WRTI-AM and Professor at Temple University and Villanova University.
This month's lecture features the rhythm of the train. The sound and the beat of the train has long influenced many a jazz musician. We want to explore this by starting with Duke Ellington and the sound of the train, the history of A. Philip Randolph, the pullman porters, African Americans, and the railroads and jazz music. Hope you can attend!
The lecture will be at Sound of Market/Jazsound record store 15 South 11th Street between Market and Chestnut) 215-925-3150.
