Fredrik Kronkvist from Sweden is considered as one of the finest contemporary alto saxophonists on the international jazz scene of today. He's known for his vigorous, virtuoso style with a never-ending flow of ideas. On his sparkling new album Constant Continuum he displays his versatile skills as a composer and an improviser. Fredrik and his band, which consists of some of Scandinavia's most excellent musicians, takes the audience to a unique personal musical landscape that touches both intellect and soul. This jazz music has a fine blend of powerful modern complex rhythms and harmonies mixed with earthbound, primitive and soulful elements.

Petter Eldh: bass
Snorre Kirk: drums

The media has often described Fredrik Kronkvist as a combination of Cannonball Adderley and John Coltrane, but with a clear own style rooted in be-bop with contemporary references. Fredrik has recently collaborated with some of the most interesting names on the contemporary scene such as Marcus Strickland, Jason Marsalis & Antonio Sanchez. With his group, the Fredrik Kronkvist Quartet, and his extrovert style he has made himself known as one of Europe's heaviest alto saxophonists since winning the European International Jazz in Belgium 2003. Fredrik also received the award Newcomer of the Year selected by the Swedish National Radio 2003 and was selected as one of the top ten saxophonists to participate in the World Saxophone Competition at the London Jazz Festival. After successful European tours, among others concerts in London and Berlin in 2006, the group went into the studio and recorded their third album IGNITION - released 2007.

For the up-coming release Constant Continuum Fredrik has collected some of Sweden, Denmark and Norway's finest young musicians where the deep communication in the group constitutes the foundation of Fredrik's quartet.
