The first-ever Playboy Jazz ocean cruise, marking the festival's 30th anniversary, will feature acclaimed bassist Marcus Miller as musical host with 2008 Grammy winner Herbie Hancock as special guest among the lineup of stars.

The inaugural cruise, Jan. 25 to Feb. 1, 2009 will leave Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Holland America's M/S Westerdam, for the ports of San Juan, Saint Barth's, Nevis and the private island of Half Moon Cay.

Joining Miller and Hancock will be vocalists Dianne Reeves and Roberta Gambarini, saxophonist James Moody, trumpeter Roy Hargrove, pianist Eldar, New Birth Brass Band from New Orleans, blues guitarist-vocalist Keb' Mo' and Poncho Sanchez and his Latin band. Performances are scheduled every afternoon and evening, and provides informal time with the musicians.

“This first-ever Playboy Jazz Cruise is a wonderful addition to Playboy Jazz Festival's 30th anniversary, and is sure to be an unforgettable affair," said Richard Rosenzweig, Playboy Jazz Festival president.

“As the foremost producer of jazz cruises in the world, it was only natural for us to want to be associated with Playboy Jazz, the most well-known name in jazz worldwide," said Michael Lazaroff, executive director of Jazz Cruises LLC, producing the cruise with Playboy. “This cruise will be produced in the long-standing tradition of 'Playboy After Dark' and the Playboy Jazz Festival. Our hallmark is creating a total environment for the production and enjoyment of the music. When you combine that with the special performances, the luxury of a first-class ship, exciting ports of call and the thrill of sharing the experience with fellow music enthusiasts, the result is a vacation unlike any other."
