Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival Announces 2008 Lineup

Donna the Buffalo

The Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival, to be held July 17-20, 2008 in Trumansburg, NY (10 miles North of Ithaca), has announced their full lineup. Lucinda Williams, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, The Meditations, Cyro Baptista & Beat the Donkey, Hackensaw Boys, Nation Beat and John Brown's Body are among the 70+ bands who will be joining festival hosts and founders Donna the Buffalo. Tickets and information are available at www.grassrootsfest.org or at (607) 387-5098.

The GrassRoots Festival is a rare beast in the festival industry. Surviving on ticket and merchandise sales and minimal grant monies, and eschewing all corporate sponsorship, GrassRoots is New York State's largest self-sustaining arts non-profit and the country's largest music festival that boasts no corporate sponsors. To top it all off, all proceeds from the festival go to benefit Arts, Education and the Fight Against AIDS. Though it has long held the reputation of being one of the festival circuit's best-kept secrets, individual attendance has grown to over 25,000 people annually, but the festival maintains a volunteer-driven, community-oriented feeling.

The complete band list is available at GrassRootsFest.org.
