Fabian Gisler (double bass) was born on August 18th 1977 in Zurich. He graduated at Swiss Jazz School in Berne where he studied with Peter Frei, Reggie Johnson, Bert Joris, Rufus Reid and Andy Scherrer. Meanwhile Fabian attended workshops led by Ray Brown, George Gruntz, Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano and George Mraz and he also won several prizes--namely at “Generations - International Jazzmeeting Frauenfeld" and “New Jazz Generation Contest" in Bern.

From 2000 to 2002 Fabian appeared as regular member of the Klezmer Group “Kolsimcha" playing concerts in Europe and in the USA.

Besides being a very busy sideman in several bands, Fabian also maintains
his own quartet featuring Colin Vallon, John Schrder and Henrik Walsdorff.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
