Greyphone Records along with The Orchard is releasing a new CD Timeless by their artist Eugene Grey, Jamaica's premier guitarist, retail and internet wide on July 30, 2002. This album features mostly jazzy instrumental interpretation of popular R&B and reggae hits with a tropical feel. Grey's biggest influence is another guitar great out of Jamaica, Ernest Ranglin, a mentor as well as a good friend.

The sites the CD will be available for purchase are amazon.com, cdnow.com, guitar9.com and theorchard.com to name a few. The potential purchaser will be able to listen to samples of some of the songs on the album such as the classic “Spinning Wheel" and Tyrone Taylor's “Cottage in Negril".

On April 14, 2002 Grey had an album launching show in his current residence of Florida. The show was advertised in all the local papers as well as in Jamaica papers. Making guest appearances in the horn section of the group was Dean Fraser, Jamaica's premier sax player as well as a good friend. Also along were trombonist Nambo Robinson and trumpeter Chico who recorded on the Timeless CD. The show was a raving success and was given an excellent review in Jamaica's Caribbean Voices writing “...the evenings entertainment began on a high and did not falter throughout. With Grey...at the front of the stage, the late evening performance did not finish until people were on their feet - and on their feet they were..."

Grey's CD “Timeless" has also had excellent reviews. Guitar Nine Records writes “A professional guitar player with an impressively long resume, the CD captures his playing over infectious, island grooves and soulful standards, making this a delightful listen." The Beat Magazine writes “The spirit of jazz great Wes Montgomery hovers over Eugene Grey's Timeless... Thoroughly enjoyable jazz guitar based reggae."

Eugene's career spans over 25 years where he has experienced a wide range of entertainment genres. Born in Hanover Jamaica in 1951 Grey migrated to the US in 1976 while on tour with his group “Jamaica Subway". He has toured all over the world as lead guitarist with the likes of artists such as “Kid Creole and The Coconuts", Toots and The Maytals" and most recently Jamaica's “Burning Spear". Having attained a B.S. in arrangement where he was exposed to classical and jazz arrangements Eugene also performed with “The Harlem Renaissance Orchestra", “Charlie Palmieri", “Arthur Blythe" and as part of the orchestra in the classical off-Broadway play “Tom and Sally".

Timeless has airplay all over the country and in Jamaica. Some of the radio stations include WAVS- 1170AM in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, WDJZ-1530AM in Bridgeport, CT, WZSC-88.1FM in Santa Cruz, CA, WORT-89.9 in Wisconsin, IL.

Greyphone Records and The Orchard are excited about the release of this album because it is a breath of fresh air and we know that all who listen to it will have an experience that is truly “Timeless".
