About Beyond Up High

Vocalist Jeffrey Gimble's debut CD Beyond Up High is a mellow romp with an unusually broad selection of material. The recording features the arrangements and piano artistry of jazz great Tamir Hendelman, Bob Sheppard on sax, Ryan McGillicuddy on bass and Dean Koba & Zach Harmon on drums. The recording takes the listener on a musical ride, journeying from 'All The Things You Are' (with a vocalese written by Gimble) to Jobim's 'Agua de Beber' to contemporary tunes like Chick Corea's 'High Wire' and Bill Withers' 'Ain't No Sunshine'...

“...an impressive debut that's beyond good; it's quite frankly, terrific in style, swing and swagger" - Edward Blanco, All About Jazz

“...a cause for celebration...an auspicious debut jazz album" - Jack Goodstein, Seattle Post-Intelligencer

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
