Harmonica virtuoso, guitarist, and composer Enrico Granafei will play a solo concert with guitar and Hands-Free-Chromatic Harmonica.

Enrico discovered the Hands-Free-Chromatic Harmonica, invented by Vern Smith, during a harmonica convention in Dallas, Texas.. This simple but revolutionary invention allows him to play guitar and chromatic harmonica at the same time by using an innovative technique which requires an unusual amount of coordination. If you close your eyes you will have the feeling that two or three musicians are actually performing together. In addition, Enrico enhances his performance with his voice.

Enrico premiered this type of performance to enthusiastic audiences in Europe during a tour in the summer of 2004. “La Repubblica", a major daily paper in Italy, wrote he is the first one in the entire world to have achieved a considerable level of proficiency on an instrument which is still virtually unknown …. a true pioneer".

After receiving his degree in Classical Guitar Enrico discovered Jazz through the harmonica and moved to New York City, where he performed in local Jazz Clubs, including Visiones, the Blue Note, and the Bottom Line.

In 1991 Enrico graduated with a Master's Degree in Jazz Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, where he was the only student of Toots Thielemans.

Enrico has performed in clubs and major festivals throughout Europe, particularly in Italy, France, Germany, Finland and Hungary. Among other participations Enrico can be heard on Nnena Freelon's CDTales of Wonder which was released by Concord Records in 2002.
