The Iridium Jazz Club is pleased to announce the addition of international recording star ELVIS COSTELLO to the LEE KONITZ 76TH BIRTHDAY Celebration. The all-star line-up featuring BILL FRISSEL, GARY PEACOCK, MATT WILSON will be joined by very special guest ELVIS COSTELLO who will sit in with the band (Tuesday only) and also present Lee with a very special birthday cake. Elvis's latest recording, North, recently topped the Billboard Jazz Charts for five consecutive weeks.

Lee Konitz (b.1927) has been among the purest jazz improvisers for more than a half century. He emerged in the late '40s as a member of Claude Thornhill's band, and later Stan Kenton, where his alto-sax solos demonstrated how the instrument could be played in a modern style without mimicking Charlie Parker. Soon he was studying and working with Lennie Tristano and formed important collaborations with Warne Marsh and Miles Davis as a featured soloist in Miles Davis' legendary Birth of the Cool band. Always the lone wolf Lee Konitz has been a leader in his own right for more than 50 years. His cool-toned alto has graced numerous recordings from Gerry Mulligan, Chet Baker, Dave Brubeck, and Gil Evans to recent recordings with Michel Petrucciani, Kenny Werner and Alan Broadbent.
