Steve Gorn plays with liquid grace. He is a master of sound-magic; may the world discover his gift. ~Paul Winter

I suddenly saw how this music went beyond notes, beyond what we think of as music. How it is, in truth, a yoga, a form of meditation, devotion, a form of love. ~Steve Gorn

Multi-instrumentalist Premik Russell Tubbs with Cinema Arts Centre present a special Sunday afternoon concert. A 'jugalbandhi' composed of Premik, world renowned flutist Steve Gorn and master drummer/ percussionist Mathias Kunzli.

The Hindi expression jugalbandhi broadly refers to encounters between two or more musicians representing different styles of performance—or playing different kinds of instruments which are not usually played side-by-side—or even belonging to different musical cultures.

Since the late 60's, Premik has immersed himself in the music & culture of India. In 1995 he began a series of performances with the great Indian violinist Dr. L.Subramanium in Bangalore, India as well as throughout the U.S. Starting in 2002 he began accompanying Pandit Ravi Shankar and his daughter Anoushka Shankar in numerous concerts, and in 2009 he accompanied on flute and saxophone the contemporary Rabindrasangeet vocalist Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya. Premik

Steve Gorn has performed Indian Classical Music and new American Music on the bansuri bamboo flute in concerts and festivals throughout the world. Raga means 'to color the mind.' Steve's concerts offer a unique performance revealing the beauty and subtleties of raga. This exquisite music, evolved from the rich spiritual and yogic traditions of India, and unfolds in an unending dance of melody and rhythm. Steve Gorn

Mathias Kunzli has appeared in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and festivals including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Montreal Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, and many more. As a drummer and percussionist he has collaborated with artists as varied as Moby, Lauryn Hill, Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Project to name just a few. Mathias Kunzli

Cinema Arts Centre has widened its reach to bring phenomenal professional classic and innovative music to its newly renovated Sky Room Café. To be sure, CAC is embracing the music community with the same highly developed, eclectic, sophisticated approach as it has film.

The air has cooled but random colors still dot the landscape as the season's wondrous designs scribble outside the lines of the ordinary . This autumn afternoon come join us for this out of the ordinary, very special concert of full spectrum color, rhythm and texture, embraced within sound...a taste of world music...as East meets West.

And as always...EXPECT THE TRULY UNEXPECTED!!!
