Earbits Rises from the Deadpool, is Back Online

As of Monday, Earbits was toast. The four year old independent music service which had raised $1.7 million, enabled artists and labels to “buy" plays, promote and connect with fans. By Tuesday, the site was entirely offline. Late on Thursday night, however, Earbits rose from the dead. Everything - the web service and all mobile apps - relaunched.

An unnamed “strategic partner" had “stepped forward and provided the necessary funding to bring Earbits back online indefinitely," Earbits chief Joey Flores wrote on the site's blog.

Just who the “strategic partner" is remains a mystery. (Perhaps Google, who has been in the hunt for a music tech acquisition lately? Just a wild guess.) “I can't share too many details at this time," Flores told Hypebot overnight, “but we are back online."

“What we can say is that we feel truly blessed by the support that we received this week," wrote Flores. With the help of our strategic partners, we look forward to not only continuing the services that our fans and artists have come to love, but positioning ourselves at the center of a music industry revolution... We will be sharing any further details with our partners, users and the community just as soon as we can."

You can visit and support the resurrected Earbits here.
