New York, NY -- The dog days of summer are nice and cool at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola in July as we kick off the month with the blazin' hot Charles McPherson-Tom Harrell Quintet featuring Jimmy Cobb with Ray Drummond and Ronnie Mathews on July 10-15. Roy Haynes and the Fountain of Youth Quartet storms the stage July 17-22. Then, by popular demand, Flora Purim & Airto return to the club July 24-29. And the last day of the month is just the beginning of two-week run by Cedar Walton, bringing first his quartet July 31-August 5.


Special Monday Presentations for July include the July 16 double bill of the Band Directors Academy All-Stars with Todd Williams and Ron Carter on saxophones (7:30pm) and a rare East Coast appearance by San Francisco's heralded swing band of Lavay Smith & Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers (9:30pm). Then, July 23 it's the Roni Ben-Hur Quintet featuring Lewis Nash, Steve Kroon, Rufus Reid and Ronnie Mathews.


The UPSTARTS! Mondays program provides performance opportunities for jazz bands from area colleges including The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, New School and Queens College. The Monday UPSTARTS! program provides performance opportunities for jazz bands from area colleges including The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, New School and Queens College. UPSTARTS! Mondays showcases the Monterey Jazz Festival Next Generation Orchestra on July 9 and the Juilliard Jazz Ensemble with a very special guest July 30.


Cover charge for the weekly Headliners is $30-$35 Tuesday-Sunday. Monday UPSTARTS! programming features up and coming talents for $20 cover. Night owls can take advantage of our late-night jams for just $10 with the AFTER HOURS sets. Student rates are $15 cover for Headliners, $10 cover for UPSTARTS! and $5 for AFTER HOURS. The minimum is in effect for all sets, $10 at the tables, $5 at the bar. Student rates are $15 Headliners, $10 UPSTARTS! and $5 AFTER HOURS.


Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola offers spectacular views and serves a jazz inspired menu seven days a weeek through the collaboration between Great Performances and Spoonbread culinary creators.
