Appearing at Jazz in the 'Wood! at the Collingswood Community Center, 30 Collings Avenue in Collingswood New Jersey, 08108 on Thursday October 4th, will be baritone saxophonist/flutist Denis DiBlasio and his band, with guitarist Brian Betz, bassist Steve Varner and drummer Jim Miller. One Show: 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10, $5 for students and are available at the door only. For info: 610-745-3011.

Jazz Bridge, a 501C public charity that helps local jazz and blues musicians in crisis, is sponsoring this event, a special Jazz in the 'Wood! season opener.

The multi-talented DiBlasio represents a rarity in jazz: An artist acclaimed by both the critics and the general public. He spent five years with ((Maynard Ferguson}}'s band as Musical Director/baritone saxophonist/flutist/and “scat singer in residence," is a clinician for Yamaha, has had his arrangements published by the world's most prestigious music publishers, and now serves as Director of the Jazz Department at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ.
