Darren Kramer is an Edwards Trombone Performing Artist and is in demand as a freelance trombonist, clinician and adjudicator throughout the United States. Kramer graduated from the University of Miami (FL) and moved to New York City where he toured with Matchbox Twenty, Tom Jones, Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and Duke Ellington's Sophisticated Ladies. He has made national television appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Late Show with David Letterman and can be seen on the Matchbox Twenty VH1 Storytellers DVD. Kramer is an active member of IAJE and is also the Jazz Trombone Instructor at the University of Denver. In addition to teaching private jazz trombone lessons, Kramer coaches the Fusion Ensemble and the Commercial Music Ensemble and is part of the pretigious DU Jazz Faculty Combo “The Climb".

Furthermore, Kramer is an accomplished composer/arranger/producer of many styles resulting in several commissioned works and exceptional recordings with his innovative 10-piece group DKO The Darren Kramer Organization. His most recent CD release is entitled In The Now and features Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Michael Brecker who describes Kramer's music as “fresh, innovative funk".

DKO - The Darren Kramer Organization is a world-class horn band that performs a refreshing mix of original Funk, Jazz and Latin. This exciting new group has capitalized on creating the next generation of cross-over jazz and bring this high-energy music to people all over the world through their inspiring performances, educational clinics and recordings.

This exciting new band has been compared in quality to The Brecker Brothers and The Chick Corea Elektric Band. Moreover, Kramer's 10- piece group is continuing the legacy of popular horn bands such as Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, and Tower of Power. The dynamic power of this four-piece horn section blended with cutting - edge male and female vocalists is described as “Fresh, Innovative Funk," by Grammy Award - winning saxophonist Michael Brecker “and the tune Turbulent Altercation - Wow!"

Not only are all DKO members full-time, professional musicians, they are also dedicated jazz educators. DKO performs clinics, master classes, and 2-5 day workshops around the globe in an effort to inspire young people with this precious and rewarding art form. Darren Kramer is a jazz faculty member of the University of Denver Lamont School of Music and is an active member of IAJE The International Association of Jazz Education. He is in demand as a clinician and adjudicator throughout the country and is an accomplished composer / arranger of many styles resulting in several commissioned works and his numerous DKO CDs.

As DKO fans anxiously anticipate the release of new material, Darren continues to produce award-winning music, including “Not Far From Here," a winner in the International John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
