Jazz Saxophonist, Danny Lerman joins forces with NY's Project Grand Slam for their Iridium Debut on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009.

Internationally acclaimed saxophonist Danny Lerman and New York's premier jazz group, Project Grand Slam, join forces to appear at the famed NY Iridium on this special spring night!

This one night only show celebrates their current recordings; Lerman's Meow Baby and PGS' Play.


About Danny Lerman

Saxophonist Danny Lerman knows how to have fun. He also knows retro cool when he sees it. Lerman took a page from the 1970s when recording his third album, Meow Baby, available on Lightyear Entertainment/EMI. “Meow Baby" features well known musicians Randy Brecker, Howard Hewitt, Paul Jackson Jr, Bobby Lyle, Haim Cotton and Hubert Laws. Danny adopted old school sensib ilities by utilizing live musicians and having a hand in writing all the new compositions for the disc. Tal Bergman, who worked on Lermans “Danny's Island" album, produced ten songs on Meow Baby and a few tracks were produced by urban-jazz icon Norman Connors.

Lermans a riveting performer who has shared concert bills with Herbie Hancock, Sergio Mendes, Richard Elliot, David Benoit, Eric Marienthal and the Ghetto Boys. When hes off the road, Lerman occasionally performs free concerts at nursing homes in his hometown of South Bend, Indiana, home of the hummer.

About Project Grand Slam

Project Grand Slam's debut album, Play, features “The Captain of Her Heart" with internationally renowned guest vocalist Judie Tzuke. Her hit Stay With Me Till Dawn was chosen by the British public as one of the 50 best British songs from 1952-2002. “The Captain of Her Heart" was an international Top 10 hit in 1986 for the group Double. “Captain" was produced by Haim Cotton and Jan Roeg. An instrumental version is also included on the album. Kurt20Maloo, the composer of “Captain" and a member of “Double", the group which made it into a worldwide hit, says: “This is one of the best versions of “Captain" that I have ever heard!".

The rest of Play features 11 original compositions by Project Grand Slam produced by the legendary Frank Filipetti (Grammy Award for James Taylor s Hourglass).

Project Grand Slam members are Robert Miller on bass, Haim Cotton on keys, Ron Thaler on drums and Gilad Ronen on woodwinds.
