ROMA JAZZ'S COOL

VII edition

July 11th -17th 2011

Registrations to the VII edition of ROMA JAZZ'S COOL—full immersion of top level jazz workshops, managed by Saint Louis College of Music of Rome—are now open. The 2011 edition will be from July 11th to 17th 2011.

The well-known names of International jazz who confirmed their participation:

Danilo Pérez, piano—Sheila Jordan, vocals—John Patitucci, bass and double bass—JOE LA BARBERA, drums—Lage Lund, guitar—DAVE LIEBMAN, sax, impro and combos.

This 7th edition will also be enriched by the participation of musicians/educators coming from Europe and in particular from 3 internationally renowned Music Institutes, which just started a collaboration relationship with Saint Louis College of Music: Simon Purcell (piano) from Trinity Laban College of Music of London, Ellen Helmus (flute) and Floris Verbeij (piano) from the Utrecht Conservatory, Charis Ioannou (sax) from University of Nicosia.

The workshops are directed to medium level students (at least 3 years of jazz studying) and high level, and—news of the 2011 edition—also students practicing jazz since short time can attend the course in a specific session.

A real full immersion: an average of 8 hours lessons per day, everyday for one week. The subjects: instrument, improvisation, rhythmic session, combos, masterclasses, all held inside the facilities of Saint Louis College of Music in Rome.

The students will be subdivided into three levels and will have the chance to face with the educators of the other instruments both in combos, rhythmic sessions and masterclasses.

In the morning the students will be divided into groups according to their instrument and level, attending classes with their own instrument educator (Danilo Perez, Sheila Jordan, John Patitucci, Joe La Barbera, Lage Lund e Dave Liebman), while during late morning and early afternoon they will confront with each other and with other educators in combos and impro classes. Another important new feature of this edition is the rhythmic session: bass players and drummers will play with Danilo Perez on piano, while piano players and guitarists will play with John Patitucci on bass and Joe La Barbera on drums, an extraordinary occasion to confront with International musicians and to show personal skills.

Singers will have special dedicated classes, focusing on improvisation, repertoire and combos.

All classes, main feature and strength of Jazz's Cool workshops, are formed by 5/6 students the most, the only way to establish an aware contact with the musicians/educators.

The application cost within April 30th is blocked to euro 260.
