This month, composer and saxophonist released his self produced album everywhere online. Between The Lines combines two distinct concepts: original compositions and highly stylized covers. The core of the recorded material is a result of Dan White's Quartet winning the 2010 Rochester Jazz Star Competition. The originals are very personal pieces that document the summer of 2010. “Chief Waneta" and “Blue Skies" are written and arranged dedications to White's family. “Fire Blossom" was written during one of White's many visits to New York City and it illustrates the city's power and creative energy. The covers are songs that White has always wanted to play. Each gives way to expansive improvisational sections.

The Album was funded in part by the Rochester Jazz Competition and also by a grant from The Ohio State University. White Explains “ Since I received so much help from the Rochester competition and from Ohio State, I want to continue this spirit of giving. During the process of making the CD I knew that I wanted to give back in some way. The first month's profits from CD sales I am going to donate to the MS Society and The Roswell Park Cancer Institute. These are two groups that have helped and continue to help members of my family and people that I love."
