Recognition for the considerable talent of Cuban pianist, Roberto Fonseca has spread far and wide, and if there was another dimension to enter, it would be the one that qualifies an artist to greatness. However, Fonseca fights shy of any attention that distracts from his music. A deeply spiritual person, who just happens to express himself through his art, he prefers to defer to the mysterious and invisible force that compels him to make music.

AAJ Contributor Raul d'Gama Rose spoke with Foneseca about his music, his life and his spirituality. Check out what Fonseca has to say in Raul's in-depth interiew, Roberto Fonseca: A Life in the Spirit, published today at AAJ.

You can also read Raul's insightful review of Fonseca's latest CD, Akokan (JustinTime, 2010), also published today at AAJ.

AAJ is committed to bringing you the most extensive coverage anywhere surrounding new releases, so be sure to check out the buzz surrounding Roberto Fonseca and Akokan at AAJ today!

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
