Crescendo Productions LLC with the cooperation of Jazz at Lincoln Center Inc. has announced the release date for Crescendo the story of the creation and continuing evolution of jazz. Experienced through the lives of the musicians who live and breathe it, Crescendo takes us fully into the making of this most original form of musical expression.

The film follows jazz legend Wynton Marsalis and his band, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Using a biographical style of filmmaking, Crescendo delves into the personal lives of these musicians, constructing their diverse social backgrounds through interviews with family, friends and fellow musicians. The viewer sees the collaborate process that takes place among these men of diverse cultures. They share their talents with each other, then with the world through travel, concerts and education and then they go home to their personal lives.

It is often difficult to consider people of extraordinary talent, those at the top of their game, as regular guys, but Crescendo grasps the humanity behind the public figures. While Marsalis and his orchestra work hard, traveling from one gig to the next, performing night after night, they also have a personal side that the public doesn't see. They truly have devoted their lives to the art form of jazz and the continuing pursuit of keeping the music alive through their work with educators and students around the world.

People want to know from where their creativity flows. How do these musicians continue to create such wonderful music, year after year? An inside glimpse into their lives reveal that it is a love of their profession, camaraderie among the band members and commitment to helping others enjoy jazz that drives these musicians to such great achievements.

Crescendo follows bandleader Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. The film weaves together the stories of the band members to produce an intimate view of the world of modern American jazz.
