Columbiana Ohio native Jim Couchenour who began 2008 by having two of his compositions air nationally on The Weather Channel's famed Local on The 8's" with Ohio based Jazz Fusionists SounDoctrine, can now hang two additional songs on his belt.
The Weather Channel began airing Crystal Snow" from Jim's most recent album 'Quiet Canvas,' (released Dec 07) early this month and will be adding the track New Mercies" from his debut 'Living Colour ' (released May 2005) to their rotation list on Thursday, May 1. This addition marks four consecutive airings by Couchenour in a six-month span.
We are truly grateful to God for what's taking shape," remarks Jere B of SounDoctrine, who is co-producer on Couchenour projects and chairs the band's Niayana Recordings label. We're delighted that the nation is now exposed to Jim's great artistry and is experiencing what we've already known about the many musical treasures in Northeast Ohio!"
TWC's Local on The 8's" is watched daily by over 97 Million viewers nationwide.
The first two Couchenour tunes which received heavy rotation in February were Sacrifice" & Boys in the Wood" from SounDoctrine's award winning album, 'Endurance.' Coupled with these new additions, each song is now eligible to be included on TWC's Smooth Jazz Summer" 2008 Compilation CD.
We are also in the process of sending them a remix of Jim's Small Mouth Bass" from 'Endurance,' Jere B adds. It features a remarkable performance by Smooth Jazz Legend Bob Baldwin on keyboards. TWC told us to send them everything we had, and we're complying!" he laughs.
Last month Jim's 'Quiet Canvas ' received very favorable reviews from the 'Music News Nashville ' online magazine. Plans are underway to visit the city in early summer to pitch the songwriter's single Come On Home" to select artists and producers. Couchenour is just wrapping up a Northeast Ohio tour of Borders Music Caf's.
Jim Couchenour's music is available nationally at Barnes & Noble and Borders Books & Music and online at CD Baby. Downloads are available on iTunes.
