Classical, Jazz, and World Music Light up Detroit Symphony Orchestra Hall February 19-22

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) presents a wide slate of music Feb. 19-22 with concerts from three of its concert series. First, pianist Horacio Gutirrez teams up with the DSO for Beethoven and Strauss Thursday - Saturday, February 19-21, conducted by Rafael Frhbeck de Burgos. This concert, part of the Favorites Classical Series, is sponsored by the Comerica Charitable Foundation.

It's a full evening of jazz on Friday February 20 as guitarist John Scofield, presented as part of the DSO's Bank of America Paradise Jazz Series, lights up Orchestra Hall with band mates Matt Penman on bass and Bill Stewart on drums. Preceding the concert, the talented kids of the Jazz Band II from the DSO's Civic Youth Ensembles will perform a live Civic Jazz LIVE! set conducted by Sean Dobbins in the Music Box.

Finally, the DSO's celebration of the Chinese New Year arrives with a flourish on February 22 with a full afternoon beginning with a Grand Chinese Buffet at 1 pm in The Music Box followed by a breathtaking performance by the National Acrobats of China at 3 pm in Orchestra Hall, presented as part of the Delta Airlines World Music Series.
