Chris has received nominations for Best Song, for his rendition of Comes Love" and Best Latin for his album Premodernism. Comes Love" was originally written and composed by Lew Brown, Sammy Stept, and Charles Tobias. The album features a mix of Straight-ahead, Bebop and Latin jazz.
Premodernism is Chris Williams' first album and is the product of a nine-month collaboration with co-producer Wayne Cook. Cook has worked with music industry giants like Pat Boone, Madonna, and numerous world-class jazz artists including The Yellowjackets and Alan Paul of the Manhattan Transfer.
Premodernism offers listeners a new take on the old standards, including a Bebop version of Elvis Presley's All Shook Up," a samba take on Come Fly With Me," and a gorgeous bossa arrangement of Cole Porter's immortal Begin the Beguine". Performing with Chris Williams are pianist Mark Massey, saxophone and flutist Justo Almario, guitarist Blake White, drummer Grant Childers, and double bassist Ron Suffredini. The recording is avalable for purchase at the website below.
