You'll find an interesting meld of instrumentation on the disc..Guitar, Sax, and drums, yet each consummate in their delivery. Leader & jazz guitarist Chris Crocco offers us a clear predominance of jazz guitar found in his ultimate musical expression for the music he has chosen. The combined group demonstrates a wide knowledge & versatility of our beloved jazz idiom as expressed through their improvisations. Unique stuff indeed!!
Edward Blanco
With a bassless trio, Crocco's arrangements allow for plenty of solo space for Garzone's exquisite tenor phrasings and Mela's forceful drumming in sharing the spot light. The original To Silvia," essentially a slow ballad, is played to the heart by Garzone and the leader alike in an absolutely beautiful piece of music. I particularly enjoyed the rather dark and percussive rhythm of Foreign Affairs," containing expressive voices by Garzone and Mela against the backdrop of Crocco's supportive guitar lines.
