Chicago, IL: Chicago-based reed master Bernard Scavella delivers mightily on his latest, A Taste Of Scavella, an 11-tune recording packed with the best in post bop playing with a freshness to match.
Scavella Scavella's masterful tenor and soprano playing and exceptional writing are on display as he composed nine of the tracks. A Taste Of Scavella also includes Joe Henderson's “Serenity" and Kenny Barron's “Sun Shower."
For A Taste Of, Scavella chose a supporting cast of top notch musicians whom he says, “when I decided to make a new recording, I wanted some of Chicago's best musicians to assist and support me in my endeavor. Musicians that were capable of interpreting my material with inspiration, thoughtfulness, and outstanding musicality."

Charlie Johnson is a sparkling and diversified pianist and a first call for those passing through Chicago wanting the best. Here he adds all the right colors and textures with superb inventive soloing.
Bassist Chuck Webb has performed with Aretha Franklin, Ramsey Lewis, David Sanborn, Al DiMeola, Grover Washington, Jr., Freddie Hubbard and McCoy Tyner and adds all that's necessary in locking in the rhythm.
Robert Shy has been a drummer on the Chicago-area jazz scene (and internationally) since the 1960's. Shy has played and recorded with many jazz greats including Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Richie Cole and Von Freeman and adds all the rhythmic sensitivities to support the music.
