Charley Harrison Releases new CD: Keeping My Composure

NEW CD RELEASE ON C3 RECORDS


West Hollywood, CA...Composer/arranger/conductor Charley Harrison and C3 Records are pleased to announce the release of Keeping My Composure, a new CD featuring the Chicago Jazz Orchestra with special guest artists Freddy Cole, Kurt Elling, Sara Gazarek, Cedar Walton and Bobby Broom, among others. Selections from the eleven-song CD will be presented at the Pick-Staiger Concert Hall at Northwestern University in Chicago, at the Chicago Jazz Orchestra's “Exquisitely for Ella" concert, on February 16th.

Harrison's originals on Keeping My Composure include “Recipe for Romance" and “If You Were Mine" sung by Sara Garazek; “Vitamin B-3" with Dan Trudell on B-3 organ; “B.S" with Brian Sjoerdinga on tenor sax; Cedar Walton on piano for “Lori's Dream; and guitarists Bobby Broom and Harrison on “2 By 6." Standards include “Jeannine" sung by Kurt Elling; “Pure Imagination," “More Love" and “Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars" Corcovado) with the Chicago Jazz Orchestra's vocalist Frieda Lee; and Freddy Cole, singing “Southside of Chicago," his first big band recording in over 20 years.

Kenny Burrell, legendary guitarist, commented that “Charley Harrison is one of the outstanding new voices in jazz arranging and composition. His ability to incorporate improvisation with orchestration is masterful."

Jeff Lindberg, Artist Director of the Chicago Jazz Orchestra noted that “Keeping My Composure sparkles with the wonderful creativity...and exemplifies that special relationship between Charley Harrison and the Chicago Jazz Orchestra."

In addition to his duties as Associate Director of the eighteen-piece Chicago Jazz Orchestra, the Chicago area native and guitarist is a sought after film composer and was recently appointed Director of the UCLA Jazz Orchestra, in Los Angeles. He currently resides in Santa Clarita.
