Cecilia Wennerstrom has started the free jazz project Wennerström Larsson Explicity together with her husband Sven Larsson. Sven played with Rolf Ericson in the 60s and 70s, with Sender Freies Berlin Big Band in the 70s and then as a regular member of the Swedish Radio Jazz Group until the mid-80s. He has been the first-call bass trombonist in Sweden for nearly forty years. Both Sven and Cecilia have been recording for Four Leaf Clover but now have their own label Wela Records (distr.by Plugged Music) since 2010. Sven released the solo-CD Didgeribone (reviewed at All About Jazz) in 2000.

In the new quartet are also Filip Augustson, double bass (also with Karl-Martin Almqvist and more), and Henrik Wartel, drums (also with Wonka Live and more). The new CD is the third one on Wela Records entitled Tussilago. It will be released Sept 28, 2011.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
