Performing songs from her acclaimed new album, New 8th Day, Carolyn returns with the grooves of tenor saxophonist Wayne Escoffery, pianist Dan Kaufman, bassist Gary Wang, and drummer Aaron Thurston. New 8th Day has received rave reviews from the July 2005 issue of JAZZIZ Magazine and the August 2005 issue of JazzTimes.

Here's what some have said about Carolyn:

“People compare the timbre of her voice to a young Ella Fitzgerald. “ – Ben Ratliff, New York Times, July 20, 2001.

“Leonhart inflects her jazz singing with an unmistakable dose of soul and R&B, not unlike Chaka Khan or even Ricki Lee Jones.” – David Adler, AllAboutJazz.com.

“Leonhart may be the one to give female vocalists a good name again." – JAZZIZ Magazine, July 2005.
