The last weekend in July and first Saturday of August echo with the sound of jazz. The annual Jazz Festival welcomes the industry's brightest new talents and celebrated chart-toppers, demonstrating the breadth and diversity of the state of jazz.

The legendary Roy Haynes has been a dominant force on the jazz scene for seven decades, playing with everyone—Bird, Diz, Monk, Trane… After appearing in 2010 with Chick Corea’s quartet, this veritable rhythmic volcano returns to Caramoor with his Fountain of Youth Band. The evening opens with three-time Grammy® award winner Dee Dee Bridgewater demonstrating why she continues to be one of the great jazz singers of our time. Recognized the world over as a master, Kenny Barron shares a solo set of his consummate and lyrical pianism. The young Gretchen Parlato demonstrates why she is one of the hottest voices on the jazz scene these days. Hard Bop icons Billy Harper and the Cookers open the day by taking us back to the hard-driving jazz of the mid-1960s.

19 time Grammy® Award winner Pat Metheny is one of the most influential and creative guitarists on the planet. Throughout his career, Metheny’s versatility has lead him to perform with artists as diverse as Steve Reich, Ornette Coleman, Herbie Hancock, and David Bowie, among many others. Now he has teamed up with an all star group: bassist Ben Williams who recently won the Monk Competition, Grammy® nominated saxophonist Chris Potter, and long time collaborator and drummer Antonio Sanchez. This remarkable group should not be missed!

BÉLA FLECK AND THE MARCUS ROBERTS TRIO
BÉLA FLECK, considered the premier banjo player in the world, brought his Africa Project to Caramoor in 2009. The genre-busting Fleck, winner of 14 Grammy Awards ®, has been nominated in more different categories than anyone in Grammy® history. Hear Béla’s latest project as he reveals the jazz side of his multiple musical personalities in brilliant collaboration with the MARCUS ROBERTS TRIO, led by Roberts on piano, with Jason Marsalis on drums and Rodney Jordan on bass, and known around the world for their signature, virtuosic trio style. The Trio reciprocates by visiting Béla's more traditional musical geography.
